How does a louvre roof work?

A louvre roof, also known as a pergola or adjustable roof, is a type of roofing system that consists of slatted or angled panels that can be opened or closed to control the amount of sunlight, shade, and ventilation in an outdoor area.

Our louvre panels are made from aluminum. Here's how a louvre roof generally works:

  1. Structure: A louvre roof is supported by a sturdy framework, usually made of aluminum or steel. The framework provides stability and allows the louvre panels to be attached and adjusted.

  2. Louvre Panels: The louvre panels are the movable elements of the roof. They are typically horizontal slats that can be angled or rotated to different positions. The panels are controlled through an automated system.

  3. Motorization: In motorized systems, the louvre panels are connected to a motor and control mechanism. This allows for convenient and precise adjustment of the panels, via remote control, wall switch, or smartphone application.

  4. Angle Adjustment: The louvre panels can be adjusted to various angles, ranging from fully closed to 135 degrees. When closed, the panels create a solid roof that provides shade and protection from rain. As the panels are gradually opened, they allow more sunlight and air to pass through.

  5. Rain and Water Management: Louvre roofs often incorporate an internal gutter system to manage rainwater. When the panels are fully closed, the water flows off the roof and into the gutters, preventing it from entering the covered area. Our system also features built-in sensors that automatically close the panels when rain is detected.

  6. Optional Features: Louvre roofs can be equipped with additional features to enhance functionality and comfort. These may include integrated LED lighting, side screens or curtains for privacy, and even sensors that automatically adjust the position of the louvres based on weather conditions.

By adjusting the position of the louvre panels, users can customize the amount of shade, sunlight, and ventilation in their outdoor space. This flexibility makes louvre roofs a popular choice for patios, decks, terraces, and other outdoor living areas, as they provide a comfortable environment that can be adapted to changing weather conditions and personal preferences.
